Hello all,
Updates and comments from this summer/autumn's drilling campaign for our new DD demo drill new customers drills.
Firstly I will kick it off with this, back in the early spring one of the first demos we did in February was drilling Kilburn wheat into a grass ley that been mucked with FYM. It was thought at the time it was slightly early to drill as the ground was still very cold and quite wet, but we drilled it anyway. The rest of the field was drilled a week later using the plough, press x2 and disc drill.
All of the field received the same treatments of chem and fert throughout the year, the only difference was the DD area had slug pellets early on and a wet headland where establishment was not so good had to receive a further herbicide to suppress grass re-growth.
The crop yielded 3.1t/ac on the conventional part and the DD area yielded 2.8t/ac. (mainly let down by the wet headland)
