Super Hydrein or YCN

I’m wondering what everyone thinks is the best mouldboard for match ploughing out or the two ?.

Only used the Hydrein, but that was designed as a match board, so should be better.

YCN specials are special YCNs, they're the same but different

Depends if you want to modify boards or not! The Mitchell’s both run ycn’s But they are not very standard!

I meant to say YCN specials in the heading but couldn’t go back and change it !,
I had a conversation with a man at a Ploughing Match telling me YCN specials were the board to use !.

YCNs were a replacement for YLs and pretty much the last throw of the dice for Ransomes, being introduced in 1982 for the TS300. As far as I am aware the specials were all modifications produced by others and as such were one offs.

YCN specials were produced by Dowdeswell

It's 2 years since I asked about them but Dunn's ploughs could get them at that time

i would say hes not a lot different to dd ....well or dds actually

ive never used ycn .......told you cant use wider tyres ....... have ploughed with 650s with dds......not ideal but doable

I always plough with 520's with me ycn plough, and that's about the same as ucn width wise and our dd one is dam perfect with 520's ......…dd .is a bit wider like you say...…

but these guys are on about comp. plough bodies
