.A sitting tenant can't buy at 50% if the landlord wants more. It used to be like that but not any more.
More like 25-35% discount nowadays
the figures are no where near right £1500 compounded at 30% would be over £20,000 after 10 years. for it to be £5000 the interest rate would be under 13%You sure those figures are right ?
Who mentioned compounding?the figures are no where near right £1500 compounded at 30% would be over £20,000 after 10 years. for it to be £5000 the interest rate would be under 13%
No.
I got screwed over.
Landlord swore the leases were identical but he managed to insert a couple of clauses which cost me loads and my lawyer didnt twig
Ten yrs ago your land was worth about £1500 per acre with a sitting tenant, today its worth £5000 with a sitting tenant
Thats a 30% return on capital per yr for ten yrs
And i didnt even count the rent[/QUOTE maybe you could enlighten me then regarding this post how DID you get 1500 to turn into 5000?
I did this timeAnd I didn't even count the rent?

NoWhat a bunch of barstewards! Are you still a tenant?
Was that for whole farm or part?I was in a similar position, but tenant of land passed for building, so could have been kicked off by following the procedure set out in the agreement (number x the rent).
Does your agreement have this clause?
Remember Capital Gains tax will want a cut if you don't reinvest.
That's good, a far better position to be in

But nobody having you by the rubbish is surely a good thing? Not really
Its one thing to lose a tenancy, quite another when they take most of your capital too.
They took them too.But nobody having you by the rubbish is surely a good thing?
