Swollen head

Massive hung single from a shearling this morning who was only just alive when I lambed it and has a big swollen head.

Would a jab of loicom or similar anti inflammatory help it go down?

Thoughts please?

@simmy_bull Sorry dont know about a jab but gentle rubbing with an old towel usually helps to get the circulation moving, fluid to drain and shrink the head back. Good luck

It’ll go down by itself over a few hours. If it can suck that seems to help. As does rubbing/ massaging.

Aslong as it's holding its head up, or it's up on its feet the swelling will go down.

As @jemski says - if it can suck for itself, the muscle use of the sucking action gets the blood pumping and swelling goes down quicker.

Leave it be with no meds, just keep an eye on it to see it has sucked

I’d be more concerned with stomach tubing the lamb as it won’t be able to suck for a few hours. Once that’s done they usually find their feet. You wouldn’t be able to pick them out from other lambs the next day.

yeah if i was concerned id be tubing it and leaving it with is mum, atleast with it tubed you know it will last a good few hours before it needs to feed again and by that time his head should be better
