What is cheap and worthwhile on septoria now. Folpet is hard to get excited about imo despite all the manufacturers telling us how improtant it is.
Not much. Folpet & teb, depending on rust risk and how many times you want to use teb in the programme.

I’m not sure if it would recreational fungicide-isation or some insane desire to slop around in muddy, waterlogged tramlines for the hell of it!

They way things are going, I daren’t take off my wide LGP wheels off the sprayer tractor yet.
Whereas this time last year, I had the row crop wheels on it.

What pray, is triacontanol?
It's a phytohormone. I'm doing some tramline trials to see if I can tease out a yield response.
Here's a surprisingly readable rundown of its effects:

The gist is that it might have significant yield effects, although in-field it doesn't seem all that repeatable (like most biostimulants).
It's used quite widely in Asia, sold by Corteva as Miraculan, among other formulations. I just put 0.1g/ha in with most sprays and maybe it'll have an effect. But if not, no big deal.
I bought a kilo from China for $35 and formulate it myself, so at 0.1g/ha it costs basically nothing to do.

Interesting. Thank you. Please share any results. Much cheaper than the flopit!!!!

I'm almost ready to give the spring barley its first once over with some. Just waiting for the rain to stop before marking out the plots.

Is folpet actually as bad as people make out or is it just put on with too low a water rate? Obviously it is just a poor man's CTL but with good coverage you would think you would see some effect?

Folpet is an odd one, from what I can see it has to go at 1.5ltr/ha and twice at least to see any benefit, I’ve stayed away from it until this year as it’s perceived to be twice as expensive as CTL and half as good !

I have one field of Firefly mainly to use up overwintered seed, there was visually too much Septoria in it last year which was worrying for a low pressure year so I’ve swapped into better varieties
Anyway, T0 of Folpet & T1 of Folpet & 1.25 of Revystar has given Septoria control equal or better to Champion so far but at a cost of £50/ha more, it seems to have added some control but I’d still rather use better varieties than rely on extra chem

Gleam looking very dirty here compared to Dawsum champion and extase. It was expected though. Had revy at t1 and I think I’m going to have to do 1.5 of univoq at t2

I’m surprised at the control although it will cost

Firefly
T0 - 1.5 folpet
T1 - 1.5 Folpet 1.25 Revystar
T2 - 1.25 Univoq

Champion
T1 - 0.8 Aviator
T2 - 1 Univoq

That’s a lot different spend so far and the Firefly may need more at T3 too
