Without buying a self levelling laser ,how could you measure drain levels from manhole to outlet.

The longest straight edge you can find, a level and a tape measure....?

Buy an old obsolete quick set or dumpy level. Many a good tune played on an old fiddle and believe it or not, they used to do surveying before lasers were invented. For that £50 you'd pay for a day's hire I'm tempted to sell you mine except I still use it!

Critically it makes it a one person job, had mine nearly 15 years, a grade function would be min spec IMO.

Laser is quick, easy and very accurate, but clear hose can be used round corners (where there is no line of sight).
