No I was making point that lots if people suddenly want to help Ukraine refugees.
Suddenly ppl can find room for them.
Giv says we can take 1000s in.
But yet we have homeless ppl and homeless soldiers living in the street.

If we can Suddenly help refugees, why could we not help the homeless before this Ukraine crisis??

Same as picking up boat ppl in channel and putting them up in hotels at great expense. Why homeless soldiers not been put up in hotels??

Every one wants to help everyone abroad in trouble, but don't care abut our own...

lots of homeless tend to be addicted to drink or heroine or some such.

Probably because theres just something about the homeless Ukrainians we see on the tv. They are different to the homeless we see here.

We've recently provided a good static home for an ex soldier with PTSD at an affordable rent.
He served in Afghanistan & now works for a business that has a unit on our farm.
He's getting divorced for the 2nd time, I think he deserves a chance - he's seen sh!t I hope I never have to see.
I've worked with lads who have been in similar situations and, by the grace of God and love of family, keep it together, but only just. Hats off for helping the lad

His first night, he walked up to our local & I happened to be in there.
I bought him a pint & thought "I hope he's not going to spend all his money in here" I gave him a lift home.
To be fair to him he's kept out of the pub & bought himself a car. He's had his daughter to stay last weekend.
Coincidentally our pub manager also served in Afghan so can sympathise with him.

Lots of children waiting for foster or adoption placements in the UK, too. Lots of elderly with no real family around as well. This is the drawback of modern media- everyone is supportive of an issue whilst it remains front page news. Tomorrow it all disappears and is forgotten.

Maybe but the homeless soldiers deserve help.
Why do so many soldiers seem to end up homeless ? according to the recruitment adverts they all learn a trade and are part of a big happy family so why do the mod and more importantly their former colleges just abandon them when thigs go so wrong for them when they leave.

I wondered that to, when your in the army you have all the chances to find a career when you leave the forces, HGV for one, i thought there were a shortage of drivers in the UK, also engineering, all tuition paid for by the army. When you think about it, no one leaving the army should end up on the streets, the knowledge you should have gained over the years should stand you in good stead. The police liked ex army people also, i know so many ex army people, some plumbers, some farmers, some engineers.

There's two big issues, the first is adjusting to a different way of life. Soldiers spend years having a very structured life that's based around sticking to rules and orders, when they return to civvy street life is suddenly very different and it can be very hard to make the change.

The other issue is for those who have seen any level of active service - dealing with the psychological fallout from what they've seen and done can send them off the rails.

I'm pretty sure that the only reason the lad I know is still alive is his daughter. He's been through some horrible dark times and seen things a young lad should never have to see.

I would say mainly this. It's amazing how much active service a modern soldier can have seen.
A lot of it very up close and personal, it must be hard to adjust to your best mates being killed by a roadside bomb, even more so if you were in the same vehicle, for example.

Refugees like veganism are made fashionable by the media so everyone jumps on the bandwagon.

Ex army personnel who risked their lives for us on the other hand, are not seen to be fashionable by the same media, so no one cares.

Having helped and spoken to many they feel abandoned by society, which is true. As a country we should be ashamed.
