Taking Spool out of hydraulic control block

I have attached a couple of pics of hydraulic control block , which shows where the control cable has snapped the end of one of the spools off. Is it possible to take the spool out of the block without parts falling every where,making it well nigh impossible to put it back in the hydraulic block, when repaired or a replacement machined ??? Thank you

I think if you take the cap off the other end , the spool should come out the top.

Not easy to tell without seeing what type of block , but if it hasn't fell out the bottom .......

Looks to be another allen headed bolt still holding it on in your 2nd pic.

to remove the spool you need to remove the top cap, the short one is no bother but if its the long one there is detent balls in it so be careful as you lift it off, take a pic before you pull it apart so you know the way it goes back together.
there will be a stud you unscrew that releases the pressure on a pair of springs and caps which will allow the spool to come out.

the biggest problem you will have is getting a spool, finding a single spool could prove to be tricky, it may be the case you might have to buy a spool valve complete, if its a walvoil block Kramp might do a spool for it, they list a good selection.

making one would be a non runner imo, they are glass hard and quite intricate , you will understand what i mean when you pull it out.
fixing that one would prove quite difficult as your not really going to be able to replicate the hardness of the clevis and welding new ears on it could be done but its not going to be hard enough to last.
its possible to buy a new valve and altho its not going to be too cheap it may be the only option here.

Actually MX7, after only seeing your other post related to trying to glue the joystick pivot i honestly think its time you invested (if funds allow) in a new complete unit, joystick, cables and spool valve for imo thats just one too many problems to try and sort out.

Has that one brocken off because the alloy cable holder has either lost or sheared one if its securing bolts? It’s usually the case although it would be more common the snap the alloy tube/shroud.

get a new plastic cable controller for the stick. Buy a new single acting valve to bolt next to the original unit? Might be cheaper than a whole block but then I'd weld the clevis up and give it a try first.

It's not a difficult job as long as the location of the spool valve makes it possible to remove the spool end cap. Finding a replacement spool will depend on the make of spool valve. Better pictures of the valve will help give a more positive response.

I agree with you,but I am trying to replace with equivalent like for like which is not that easy , but I will keep trying.

I notice the cables and the in/out pipes are on the same side. Is it a multi coupling block ?

One set of pipes feed left loader lift ram,the other set the right loader lift ram.
