would it be better with the plastic type hair grip reinforcement if its still available
As I understand it,plastic is only suitable to prevent surface cracking,not to give structural strength.
The amount of steel added to the concrete is calculated by Tarmac once they know the application.

Anybody who has used reinforcing mesh will welcome any innovation that does away with it with open arms. Mesh is dangerous, poking your eye out is most severe, to tearing your wellies which is least severe. I hate the stuff. And that is before you pay a man to lay it, cut it to size,and wire it all together. The only problem is positioning. Mesh bear the bottom forstrength, near the top forcrack control; Steel fibres?
