Te20 petrol wiring

Little grey fergie te20 1947 petrol

I’ve had battery and starting problems and since bought a new one and started first time but now one of the wires to the Dynamo is glowing red hot and melting, is this a dynamo failure or wiring issue.

This may have been my previous issue and did something to the battery.

Stuck contacts in the regulator would be my first guess

I would say that you will need to renew some wiring

Are you using 12 volt battery but a 6 volt regulator?

Is that a threshing box you’ve set fire to in the shed?

Thanks for the help everyone,
I opened up the regulator an it was totally melted and burnt out.

So it’ll be new regulator and wiring for her

No, I thinks it’s oil or something on it.
Not mine, stored in a local steading

All 6v throughout

The dynamo will need checking
Also when removing burnt wires gloves should be worn as burnt insulation is difficult to remove from fingers

Ok so new regulator fitted, dynamo stripped and cleaned, wiring checked but still have a wire glowing red hot when the ignition is turned on
