Teagle 8080

I'm having trouble with the bed stopping on my straw chopper. There's a build up of straw where the back door meets the bed and this is stopping the bed going forward. So its a case of constantly putting it in reverse and forward. Making a simple job more difficult.
Anybody had this problem and solved it.

Cheers

We have the same problem with ours, usually only when we're using round bales stored outside. It's the wet lumps which seem to clog it up. I reverse the bed a few times but if still blocked I turn bed speed to max and it usually pulls through fine.
Also find that if the tailgate is at a 45 degree angle it blocks more often so either have it all the way up or level.

Our bales are stored outside. So maybe the wet bits are the problem. Won't pull it through on full speed so like you say I have to back it off

First thing make sure bed chains are free of obstructions and that is at correct tension.. mchale has problems like that if bed is slack. The slats catch and jam when going underneath the floor if you know what I mean.

Sounds to me that you have a paddle damaged on the fan then.. They are critical on the air flow, any damage will send a bit of air under the floor and fill it with straw.
Drove us mad for over a year before sorting

We had a problem with our first Teagle which was a 9090 - same as 8080 but a tad longer machine. Chains were tensioned correctly, no stones or obstructions and the scrapers were positioned correctly to keep the bed chain wheel grooves clean. The trouble turned out to be with the relief valve. I just put an extra washer in to tighten the spring and never had anymore trouble with it.

Is that just above the pto?

check the rubber flap below the front roller. you can see it if you remove the half moon shaped plate on the bottom of the fan housing at the front. the later replacement one is much thicker and seems to stop straw being drawn around with chains as well as providing a seal which then provides more draw to the fan

McHale were supposed to have fixed this four years ago accordingly to the "slick" mouthed Irish salesman :banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

I had taken legal advice and was at the point of rejecting my machine after they'd tried to fix it three times. The dealer then stepped in and modified the floor under the front of the need to allow enough clearance for the slats to turn if there was a little silage pulled through with them.

If memory serves correctly, the relief valve pressure is 100 bar. Too high and it blows the motor seals.

Correct floor chain tension is when you can only lift a slat in the middle of the floor by about 1 to 1¹/² inches. Make sure there isn't any straw or silage underneath when measuring the gap as it can make the chains feel tighter than they are.

Had the same problem with ours a bit of NCB pit belting cured it.

All shredder type machines re circulate some material. Normally due to a slack floor chain and/or the rubber flap underneath the machine at the front end of the floor chain. If you over feed the rotor and turbine this can also lead to greater re circulation.

We had this problem on ours, tried taking the guard out underneath, helped a little but not much, so took a link out of the chain at each side, so now the tensioners are further forward and the bars have more room to come round with out jamming straw against the back door, works a treat now (y)
