Put in teaser ram in for 14 days , take out and put in your fertile ram right away , so your teaser should go in on 18 August, sort of important to keep the ewes out of sight and smell of any rams before hand for as long as you can

Yea - in for 7-14 days. Ewes must be away from sight and smell of rams for a month beforehand.

TAKE TEASER OUT when rams go in.

Looking to use a teaser for the first time this year. Maybe I've asked before but is it better for teaser to be a totally different breed from what will actually be used? Or does it not matter? Will be texel and beltex tups that go out so was thinking of a suffolk. And how much to get the snip for him? Cheers

Breed makes no difference but he does need to be in season/active when you want to use him (ahead of the Texel or Beltex tups). The only reason it is suggested to have a different breed, is so that Rams don't get mixed up.
I use pure Cambridge teasers which are randy as hell, at nearly any time of year, quiet to handle and last well. As an added extra, they're the only dark faced sheep on the farm.

A Suffolk, or cross, would be a good choice for early use, but he needs to be an active, mobile one. I suspect an NZ Suffolk would be an ideal candidate, and easy to spot:rolleyes: in most ram groups to avoid mix ups.

£50-75, we charge less for additional animals at the same time.

You can use the same breed, but the benefit of using something completely different is easy ID.

What is the correct procedure for flushing and using teasers @neilo

@bovine posted it above.

I prefer to put them in earlier, usually a month before tupping, so that they get all the ewes cycling but they are mostly tupped on the second natural cycle. That cycle is supposed to be more prolific and it is less synchronised than the first, as they naturally start to spread out a bit.
That comes from experience if my old Texel ewes, which wouldn't all have been naturally cycling in early October without a teaser.

Was hoping to pick up a flighty one. You know the one that puts most folk off :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes: oh and is cheap (y)
