TEF20, Fergusson, gearbox issue with S, starting gear, please help-

Hi, i bought this one from -55 and it "worked fine" when they put it in the barn 30 years ago... I cant get in the S (Start) gear. On my model i have to unscrew the whole "steering wheel house" to get a view of the inside. I hope to not have to do that.

My technical english is poor, so have that in mind :p

I would like som pictures and/or exploided view over the gearbox so i can se what might be wrong. The gear position is stoped by something. When i unscrew the oil filling cap and "gearbox stage selector" it looks like the button on the right side thats supposed to be supressed by the right fot, to make the S gear able to push on the starter mechanics, its looks like there is nothing for it to press on!? (The button stops about 3-4mm before the gearbox shell. I Can hear a metalic sound when its hitting this bottom, 3-4mm from the shell).

I need to make it work to start my self sustaining agriculture up in the very north of the taiga in Scandinavia.

Thanks in advance!!!

I just have one flashlight that can get in the whole, but its to week to light up with. Hm, if i put a blanket over me and the gearbox i might se more. Will try that meanwhile i might get som help of proffessionals like you.

Thanks, thankss in advance!!!

Before you open it up, try putting it in fourth gear and rocking the tractor to move the engine round. Then try again with the button pressed in, the gears on the starter have to mesh before the starter will spin, sometimes you need to push quite hard on the gear lever, and sometimes more to the left than you think

Back! I saw more with a blanket over me, the Button on the rightside has a pin that goes up and connects to a bronze axel that goes across the gearbox other side. I cant see anything whats happends on that side.

Rod Dumbreck, i will try you suggestion right now. Thanks.

It works :) The S is very close to gear 3! And i have to push it hard to make it push the starter axel far enough.

Thanks Rod Dumbreck!!! (I have issue with the 3-lift to, make a new thread with that one).
