What are good ones what are crap. Will be looking at secondhand more decent type ones for cleaning up farm machinery before painting. Have 2 150l 3hp compressors. That I taught I could link together to get output. Might even have a 3rd linked in. How do you recycle the shot when doing a big machine do you lay down sheets or just sweep it all up and sieve it.

get someone in to do it ,you need a big diesel road compressor

Them hand held pot things a waste of time
Sounds like your wanting to do a fair bit of work with it
So
Spend 3 or 4k on a road compressor air mask, filters, and decent sized pot then your good to go.

Best way to recycle is have a purpose shed for it then you can just sweep up and sieve etc
But outside or on gravel put a sheet down the gr8t breaks down after a bit though and goes like a talc.
Aluminium oxide is good for reuseing but quite pricey
Dont use a grit a free silica or you will be shot before you even get the lung condition.

Without hesitation Hodge Clemco for your pot and safety gear. They also sell all manner and type of grit in bulk and as said are very good to deal with. Don't necessarily go crazy with pot sizes. Unless your blasting bridges or houses for a living a 2 or 3 bag pot is sufficient and more portable, they are heavy buggers. You will also be glad of a break to refill your pot.

Regular workshop compressors won't have anywhere near enough grunt. You will need a road tow diesel screw compressor for the air volume required - 150 CFM is the minimum, but you really want to be up around the 250 to 270+ mark so you can run a decent bore nozzle.

It's filthy but satisfying.

Lad locally built a new shed for sandblasting, put up one of those american round roof jobbies, apparently cause there's no beams or purlins inside to collect all that dust

Specialized job really.
You can go on and on with this stuff, purpose built blasting rooms (acoustic shielding etc) with air filtration and then grit recovery and filtering systems. The sky is the limit. However simple roof to keep the rain off, open space on concrete or hardcore will do.

What's the opinion on using high pressure water for grit blasting? Some impressive videos on you tube, guess that doing it on a hot summers day ,it could dry and be primed before any rust re occurred?

They soon ginger up
Matter of minutes in fact

I blasted a rear axle trumpet housing then rinsed the grit out from inside left it to dry while on the phone and gingering of the steel was starting
Have had tractors wet blasted before and again gingered up,
