One very sceptical bloke hear that some times does what he should do, but quite often defers the visit to a "Doctor"
18/2/17 Spaniel had a bit of a strange face "look" 19th after "Countryfile" noticed him licking his foot investigation showed a little "sore" Monday call to Vet and a visit by 9am confirmed the "sore" to be a possible "Blackthorn" entry point. Asking the Vet to look at him from a couple of feet away her immediate statement was "He" has got Tetanus. Operation to remove thorn revealed the need to actually remove the Toe (good decision on further investigation).
My Message to all who don't keep keep there personal "Vaccinations Up to date please address your situations. Don't rely on the luck that my dog had, of a "medic" who new what she was up to. Tetanus is still out there.
It is expected he will need antitoxin for some time to come.
I understand there isn't a vaccine for dogs though.

Glad the dogs ok. I thought for a minute it was some Walterp type reference about yourself as the dog! If you hadn't of noticed as well the dog would have been stuffed I'm sure so well done.

Come to think of it, I've still got a blackthorn in my knee I need to cut out. I expect that's when it'll get infected.

Some real nasty stuff still knocking about, despite all our modern medical miracles. A couple of years ago a guy who drank in our local club suffered a minor cut whilst stripping an old property for modernisation. By the time they diagnosed "Weil's Disease" (Leptospirosis) it was too late.

Real men don't wear gloves; wise men do!

Having been to hospital with a minor injury or few over the years the hospital staff usually ask when I last had a tetanus which I haven't got a clue. Yet to the best of my memory they've never followed up by giving me one but more surprising is that in this day and age where they can access my medical records at the click of a button they need to ask...............although I do know they've got mine and my dads medical records mixed up but don't seem particularly interested in doing anything about it as its someone else's mistake.........well, at least some of mine are in with dads so if the reverse also applies I'm suffering with dementia.

Once sat in a hospital x-ray department with a badly injured ankle swelling by the moment and throbbing with pain. Waited and waited and waited. To afraid to complain, lest they made me wait longer, I patiently waited for several hours.

Eventually, unable to stand the pain any longer, I asked a passing nurse if she knew how much longer I would have to wait. To which she answered .............JC are you still here?

Turned out that a guy with the same sir-name had been booked into A&E with the same injury at approximately the same time and when they collected him from the x-ray department they picked up my files with his. I didn't complain though. I was just relieved to eventually get treated.

After the last time tetanus was mentioned on TFF i asked GP. They said after your childhood vacc's you only need 1 more age 25-30 then that's it. Used to be 10 yearly but not now
