So did I. It had an "off" switch

They also have a plethora of alarm and notification options, including whether to have audible indicators or not. Whether to have banners or not and to turn off any or all notifications. It does not surprise me any more that so many people can't seem to manage tools that are meant to improve time management.

I use the do not disturb option in Android, you can set various options, mine is set to ring for contacts in the phone and any number that rings twice in fifteen minutes; for everything else my phone doesn't flinch.
