Thought today was going good... then I had a rotten lambing just before dark :banghead:
"Bad start, good finish", as the saying goes.

You'd wonder how ewes that are in as good a nick as yours could have such a sh!t start :(

Mind you, ours were just the same, and @Gator 's too, by the sounds of it :banghead::banghead:

............just feckin' sheep, I suppose. Makes you wonder why you do it sometimes.

Keep yer pecker up Niths.

They can be in too good a nick... but those sheep above have been totally normal upto now. It's the mob of TexX's which are a clusterf**k this year and they're not in as big a nick. It'll boil down to my management... I will have done something wrong along the way but I can't think of anything different to other years.

Pecker? Thank feck you didn't mention my chin, @primmiemoo would've been in a fluster!!

Can't remember what thread it was, but @primmiemoo has a niece. Maybe they'll fight over you. If it involves mud-wrestling I wouldn't mind a video clip.

Definitely Alamycin for abortion. Never had to do it, though, so no help from me.

Checked up with the flock book before last rounds - I've not lost as many ewes as I thought I had (or as many as it feels!) but it's still higher than normal. Lambing seems to be kicking into gear at last - I'm chasing after and working/concentrating on lambs instead of ewes now so it feels more like nornal.
Hopefully things will all even out by the end of the year

I think 6 lambed today. 1 triplet, 2 twins and it was either 2 or 3 singles. 1 of the triplets was dead at birth, and 1 twin is in - 1 lamb full, the other empty (but up and going, sucked the bottle fine) - probably due to me cutting off the feed...

I thought quick acting would be more beneficial if she had rotten lambs possibly still in her. She’s a month away from lambing, had a bloody back end but I couldn’t find anything in the Croft but it is big and with it being 5 weeks from lambing whatever she had could still be quite small.

She’s looking better now though

I've been quiet because last weekend was f**king brutal. But it looks like we've gotten through whatever was going on. Nothing was found/confirmed, just lots of speculation. But things have settled down and this week hasn't been too bad. So hopefully it's over with, and i just add it to the list of things I've seen had to deal with. I think they call it experience or character building

The TexX ewes are only about halfway through. Scanner man marked 1 or 2 as being late, so I'm expecting them to catch up by the 17th

It's been beautiful weather up until late on Tuesday. Tuesday night was horrendous with wind and rain, no issues though everything survived fine. Last night was same again and 2 lambs which were born in it didn't survive. Have had a dump of softer lambs today and had to fetch 4 ewes in.

Actually 5 ewes, if you include this one

My homebred pure Texel was working on it at 5pm tonight so fetched her in just because I'm fed up of f**k ups. She lambed fine though. 2 cracking daughters, tups are good but I've plenty and was really hoping for 2 girls to grow the flock, so she's done everything I wanted. I'm really chuffed with her... It's first thing since the first ewe lambed, that's gotten me smiling.

The rest should kick off on Monday

Pleased to hear that it looks like you've 'turned the corner'.

Hardly dare look at your post, when I saw the notification, with all the other stuff that's going on at Gator's etc :X3:

A lot of rain last night, again. And woke up to it snowing, but not lying... water everywhere but the lambs are doing fine.

It's a day early, but the ewes up at home have now started. Found 2 Texel triplets (with a hill triplet making a lot of fuss so I expect her to drop today too), 2 Texel twins and a hill twin have all lambed when I was round at feeding. Good solid lambs, very pleased with them. Things are feeling better, too - just need a couple dry days to let the water drain off and it'll be grand!

I have had to turn 3 ewes out marked cull, all with milk stones. Bags are full feeling but can't strip anything off them, tried the Canula on them but no luck so gave up. It is strange how things come in runs...

I'm hoping I've turned the corner, 3 sets of twins and a single last neat, all good strong lambs All up and doing, like yourself its been a while to get a smile, hopefully wherevover the worst. Weathers still :poop: but still plenty of room in the Inn yet so not in any hurry to kick out out yet.
certainly been a testing time mate.

Really hope you're through the worst of it.

I had a gimmer lamb a triplet last night. All 3 were small, 2 dead 1 live (it's going fine). 2 more Gimmers lambed twins this morning both 1 dead 1 alive... they look OK, but everything that's happened I'm already thinking the worst. Had to be a weekend, If another does it, I'll get it to the lab

Older ewes have lambed OK. Had a triplet trying to lamb, but she had got coupied. First lamb stuck and dead, 2nd alive, 3rd drowned... another trip lambed 100yds away so fetched the wettest lamb over and wet fostered it in the field, 2 sets of twins now  another triplet lambed farther on... that's 5 pets now with 3 of them taking a bottle each every feed, time to set up the shepherdess I think!

We're getting going now, I think. Yesterday was very quiet think there was only 5 or 6 lambed, but had 16 today - 2 singles, 2 triplets and 12 twins. Everything born alive and going well!

There's still 10 of the TexX ewes to lamb, bit nothing has lambed in that group since Sunday :banghead: I think overall 85-90 ewes have lambed now.

Was really warm on Monday and yesterday but bloody cold first thing today. Thankfully the heat came through by lunchtime and turned into a lovely evening. 2 ewes lambed ontop of each other and got lambs mixed up - 1 is away with 2 and happy but the other only wants 1 so she's in tonight. Hopefully I can convince her 2 is the magic number

This was 6pm tonight

It doesn't really get any better  the joy is coming back
