They should kept a deep mine open for them that love getting into a cage at 5.30 am in the morning lowered lord knows how many meters down and dig coal under the sea while your mates remove the props behind you not knowing if your getting home that night. They can’t even get the saps to drive wagons now let alone dig coal .

Tough, tough life. I was supposed to have had visit to a working deep mine years ago, but it shut before I had the chance! I still regret it.

Nearest I have been, was the mine at the Black Country Museum., although I did get a "tour" of the old Lead mine at Cwmystwyth back in the 80s. Claustrophobic and a bit scarey initially, then just plain fascinating.
