Have you tried any others @MacAlister ? What did you think? We've demoed a Gator, Honda Pioneer and CanAm Traxter Petrol. Had ruled out the Ranger as not sure about Polaris reliability but I think the newer diesel models are better. Any comments having tried it?
Had one coming up two years been more reliable than the gator before it. Going to look at price to swap as it will be coming out of warranty but if the price is not right I aren't scared to keep it out of warranty

As of yet we haven't tried anything else. We aren't looking at petrols which heavily limits our choices.

My thoughts on the Polaris were; Very comfortable- far superior to a bike and didn't feel bad taking it checking cattle unlike the pickup.

It seems far more reliable than the previous models (although only a week long demonstration) with Polaris upgrading all of the parts which were mega issues on previous models. It felt solid.

Fuel use- we used 20 litres of red diesel in the week we had it, one of our bikes in the same time frame used 30 litres of petrol (not an easy comparison but it cost little)

Off-road- it felt every bit as capable as the quads on everything except bog, where it's weight inevitably let it down. But that's not an issue as well, duh

On road - on the road it was rather noisey, due to the engine being right behind the cab, however it wasn't an annoying noise (that only appeared in the cab when Mrs asked how much it was)

Price- it's quoted at 16k, with a full cab and heater which does seem pricey, however it is a very versatile vehicle and a far nicer place to spend a day around crops/cattle/sheep its also useful as I believe any 16 year old with a license can drive it on the road, very beneficial at harvest when parts are required in the field!

Currently having the debate with Mrs and Father on whether it's justified

I'm not worried about the justification, I want to be dry through the winter!

Is it 50k road speed?
No,40k.

If you need speed it’s not the best option.

I believe they can be ‘mapped‘ to do around 30mph giving more speed and less torque. However being hydrostatic and heavier the ability to travel faster will be limited.

Being single track roads and farm track access to most of our place then ultimate speed is not essential.

However inching up to hitch a trailer is a dream.
