What can I say , I’ve probably ruined the shite lambing thread , with my rambling on about what to do etc so inspired by @Aspiring Peasants I thought yes that’s a good idea , a thread to share your aches and pains, your trials and hopefully your wins.
As we get older things can become more difficult especially if your suffering with ailments , maybe like myself you are at a crossroads not knowing whether to carry on farming or to say enough is enough
I really hope anyone going through a tough time posts , it can be as anonymous as you like but please , don’t be afraid to talk.
I’ve had some incredible private messages and some humorous and sage advise on the shite lambing thread , and for that Thanks to everyone who posted.

I've no bothered myself with reading the shyte lambing thread, "feart" it makes depressing reading, so I can't comment on whether you've ruined it

I can comment on aiks and ailments; suffered from farmers lung for near 15 years, have gout often worse during times of stress, and now aching joints, particularly in my hands, that doesn't make it easy to run after and lamb troubled ewes

Why carry on? Because I've improved the cattle pens so I don't now need to run and chase, able to afford a much more comfortable tractor, still dreaming up ways to work without the physical strength and fitness that I once had. The days of me knocking in 100 fence stabs with a 30kg man killer are gone, so today I have a petrol knocker thats lighter to carry. There's aye a way for those inventive enough to stop doing things just because that's how they've always been done

Until farming no longer provides a sense of achievement and accomplishment in the face of adverse weather, failing physique, and basturd thick politicians, I don't recon it's time just yet to join the auld collie dug asleep at the fireside

They will need to co operate to survive. The alternative is sell up for trees/another farmer.

Or a long decline into bankruptcy.
@unlacedgecko I transferred this from the other thread now the new one has started.

There's a huge difference between tenants and owner occupiers now, I think tenants are really going to struggle because of alternative land uses and rent levels. An owner occupier who has paid off his borrowings and perhaps has pension has a lot of options.

Never been a fan of making myself feel better by reading / listening to the woes of someone else having a bad time, be it better or worse than the sh!t getting dealt my way. Bit like watching a corpse rot, and not remembering that one day it'll be yours doing the decaying
