A very useful piece of info for the old Doncaster tractors.

I found an old 84 series service engineers hand book.
This page has the information I was on about.
Height of lift arm pin centers.
It's also giving the length of the linkages for position and draft.
Basically set the linkage length, lift arms fully up on position lever, draft lever fully down.
Check measurement on arms and adjust as required on draft spool in hydraulic top.

I'd disconnect the hitch rods first, lift the arm right up using the position control lever ( not the draft lever )
Having done this you should have roughly 1.5 inch lift at the link arm ends.
Did as you described and then altered hitch rods now it’s 100% better many thanks 👍

Did you do the turbo conversion yourself?
Yes, bought kit off TB turbo`s, was simple to fit, had to take the tin side panel off the engine and put a fitting in for turbo oil return.
Around that time also had the T / A rebuilt, and the steering orbital unit. also put a second hand crankshaft in as original had fractured on the rear main bearing, (this was before turbo,)
Done more hours with turbo than without.

How expensive was the turbo kit if you don't mind me asking? I have a turbo from a MF 698t ..wonder if it's the same size?

memory not that good :D :D

How's your hearing?

I had the dealer fit a TB Turbo kit to a 956, with the included straight pipe. I can still hear it, only now the high pitched note is called tinnitus.
If it had been working hard I'd get out of the cab with something like shell shock, couldn't talk to anyone for about half an hour, a very strange and unsettling feeling.

Thought I would ask here, as had some very good replies from knowledgeable guys on here in the past.

1990 CASE 885xl fuel problems,
It seems that there is a restriction in flow to the hand primer pump on fuel filters,
So the question is, is there a tank filter on the suction pipe to lift fuel to the primer ?
If so where is the devil at ?

Thanks

Used to be a filter in the banjo bolt connecting the pipe to the fuel tank iirc

Will have to have a look today, and see if I can find anything wrong, but it's definitely a restriction from tank.
A filter in a banjo bolt must be small in size, any how I will look.

Thanks
Yes, small gauze filters on the banjos that go into the bottom of the tanks.
Also make sure the breather tubes are kinked or blocked, they come off the top of the tanks.
If you want cut the banjo filters off and fit an inline filter that's easier to change.

Thanks for that conformation of there where abouts, I will look in to it and get sorted

Hi
I wonder if anyone can help me please
I have an international 454 D179 engine that has water entering the oil sump. I thought it was the head gasket leaking although it transpires it's one of the cylinder liners that has failed, either the seal of liner itself

Has anyone ever removed and replaced the cylinder linings and can it be done in situ. We have removed the pistons & conrods but am wondering how best to remove the linings.

Thank you kindly

Mark
