The mad world of relief milkers...

A friend of mine’s dad had a student working on the farm about 30 years ago...

Said student was sacked on the spot after the farmer walked round the corner to find the student in the calf pen with his trousers round his ankles encouraging the calves to ‘feed’.

I think there is a story like that going around every diary area in the world. To be honest don’t believe any of them. I doubt anyone that has fed calves before is putting their old fella near them.

This one is 100% true. I know the family very well and see them most weeks.

I agree with you on the second point though!

The version I heard was a college prank where they tied the bloke up in a pen of calves, with his pants down of course.

Doesn't bear thinking about...

There is a chap not too far from here who is a very good, competent, keen relief milker.

A local farmer thought he could put the young lad down in front of his friends, asking "How many cows do you milk in that farm?" knowing full well that the milker was not the most educationally blessed chap and that numbers were not his strong point.

"The bloody lot" was the milker's swift answer, putting the natty old farmer well and truly in his place.

The flip side of this is that as a relief milker you get to see some very sharp operators and some who really shouldn’t be in this industry.

Yes, absolutely! We have Clients in both camps. After doing this for 24 years I have seen a lot of both and every new place teaches you more.

But, the stories that are being discussed here are not about technical proficiency but about the life choices or life styles of certain Relief Milkers
