i here people talking about we dont want to be told whot to do by the nanny state? but are happy to turn to it ie the NHS when it all goes wrong ? i think that government intervention, legislation or what ever you call it has to be reversed in many areas because you just cant let people do what they like or companies for that matter, im talking about as prime examples the relaxation in acholol use, sale, licences to sell etc, fact is alot more achohol abuse and NHS are having to deal with it ? another is relaxation of rules on gamberling must be loads and loads of profit in it judging by the amount of TV adverts ? down side is amount of addicts and so sade suicides because of it ? what about one other , the amount of children under 5 with rotten teeth whos to blame for that bad enough to have some rotten teeth in adulthood, but come on rotten teeth in under 5s the nanny state has to wake up ?

The problem is that "nanny stating" ultimately helps save the NHS money by actively promoting preventative measures. If you can stop someone becoming obese for example then becoming diabetic it can save the NHS thousands in avoidable operations, drugs, therapies etc over the long term.

the nhs or me you has to then pay for the cost of a childs rotten teeth ? what im saying that you have to have government intervention in an ideal world there would be know need for police people would have self control about eating or drinking alchol or gambling but it dosnt exist who picks the bill up when it goes wrong ?;

I don't think you can use the NHS as a basis for any argument one way or the other.

We have no choice but to pay for the NHS .. same for the BBC .. so by default we SHOULD always turn to both because we pay for them.

BTW I don't think the NHS is providing a health service in the pre Covid sense ATM at all. Almost a year now since my treatment has been terminated.
