The noose is tightening- what next?

In the past 2 weeks alone I've lost a good part time job at local distillery because of SEPA rules on the spreading of Pot Ale on land. It was a well paying job 2 shifts a week for me giving a welcome boost to my income. Few days later muirburn has effectively been banned in Scotland although not enforced yet. This means our common grazing will become totally useless so no ewes out on the hill in the autumn saving grass for tupping and winter. So they will effectively become park sheep, and will probably have to keep less. Put a fire off Saturday and had all the local dogooders in hysterics, reporting me to the firebrigade. 5 years ago no one said a word, the whole population has been radicalised by green nonsense.

I'm sure everyone feels that noose tightening on our way of life. Question is what next, looks like the sensible option would be getting a full time job and keeping a few sheep as a hobby.

Trying to fight this is looking like a thankless task, maybe that's what they want, everyone to give up.

Put a positive spin on this man.

1. You're a farmer, getting another job will be no big deal, believe me if you merely have the ability to get out of bed in the morning.

2. So you can't burn stuff any more. Can you run a flail over it instead in a rotational cycle? It would be interesting to see what effect simple mob grazing could have on a patch of nearly unimproved land. There are people in the world running animals on equally inhospitable stuff somewhere. Just takes a shift in thinking is all.

I think we're all getting slowly pushed to the exit . We are just cash cows for the likes of NFU , yara , chem suppliers and all the assurance hoops we have to jump through .

10-15years ago I was keen as anything to grow and was constantly looking at local land sales , now I couldn't care less and glad no offer was accepted. I just hope the kids don't want anything to do with farming so I can get out

Good news! Under the new Scottish 'Hate Crime' legislation you can get free 'bed and board' for up to 7 years.
All you have to do is utter something that could be "regarded by a reasonable person to be insulting", so a simple commonly held opinion like "Humza Yousef is a f**king idiot" should do it.

Sorry have to go, someone is trying to kick my door in...

Yes I reckon I can get a job, but I like what I do already. And yes a swipe is a possibility for a few small areas. Swanvestas were cheaper though

Is this proper pot ale from whiskey distillery ?

Seems a waste throwing it on land when you could put it through a cow first !

I
Surely there's demand for it to feed ( I know it won't get your job back tho either way )
