I Am no Boris fan but this will pee off putin, Good effort
Well, I was very pleased he went, but am surprised and extremely happy that he was allowed to walk around even a small part of Kiev. That's really good news, because it means that Kiev is now almost certainly a place safe from everything but hypersonic missiles - which Russia very probably doesn't have many of after all. We can only imagine the relief from such stress as the people there have been under.

Pretty fair words from both in the press conference too I think:

And this is going to happen again, and again, and again as Macron, Scholz, Rutte and others visit; every single one will increase Ukrainian morale, and at the same time make Russia - i.e. Putin - look impotent.

Incredible! Our PM taking a stroll in the capital of a country that has been at war with Russia for 45 days!

Aside from the remarkable achievement of the Ukrainian forces are repelling the Russian advance on Kyiv....

How did Borris get there? Its a long drive from Poland! Did the Prime Minister of a NATO country just fly into airspace contested with Russia onboard a NATO aircraft? I am trying to work out if Borris should be praised for such an action or bollocked for being a bafoon?

A fair question, but we can be pretty sure that our security bods thought the risk minimal, and absolutely certain that their Ukrainian equivalents did. They simply wouldn't have allowed a guest of such importance to them to visit without absolute confidence in their ability to guarantee his safety.

It does suggest Russia are not even capable of contesting the airspace over most of Ukraine despite having spend over a month degrading Ukrainian air defenses. Any Russian AWAC flying over Belearus would have been fully aware of a flight coming in to Kyiv from Europe unless they where skimming road signs. Given Russia could believe the flight carries munitions, there must be similar unchallenged flights taking place regularly for the security services to be confident such a flight wouldn't be challenged either in the air or targeted with a volley of long range missiles after landing. Its all guessing though, maybe it was a nice drive or a scenic train journey

Praised. Rape victims will be given a little hope, Bereaved families will believe they can win, and it is not all for nothing. If only Russians could see.

#KyivDiary Day 46 Last night, late, after curfew, I show my British passport at checkpoints. At last one cabbie makes Ukrainian soldier laugh his head off, speaking Surzhyk, a mangling of Ukrainian-Russian creole. Translated: "God Save The Queen". One feels so proud.
President Zelensky has been asking Boris for advice on his appearance, because he wants to look more like he's just crawled out of a bombed out city.
