The war in Ukraine...

I think Moldova would be his next target, Finland & Sweden he might think are far too European.

There is also another difference. Ukraine is neither a member of the EU or NATO. Sweden and Finland are member states of the European Union. Although NATO is the centralized defence organisation, I suggest there would be considerable political pressure if Russia were to militarily attack a fellow EU state. France is a member of the EU and a separate Nuclear state.

It's all very well sending u2 up.and rivet joint and awacs. They are constantly watching . We assume Ukraine are privy to what they see. But all everybody does is talk whilst putin laughs.
His bully boy threats are working.
We could be waiting a long time for him to be removed by his own , at what cost to Ukraine and possibly others.
NATO refuses to help in case ww3 Armageddon ensues, but IF he attacks NATO member then we retaliate, but he still has the nukes even then.
So what's the difference. Ukraine not in NATO so stay out, but poor weaponry in .
The world as we knew it is well and truly f**ked, why can't we /They all live and trade in harmony , oh yes it's $$$££££€€€€ ,power and religion .
Mankind !!!! Nothing kind about us at all.
Just f**king greedy more always wants more ,it's never enough.
You should stop bottling stuff up and just share your feelings with us. (y)

I think to many people are put faith in NATO and the "west", and it promises it holds.

look at the promises that the west had made to the middle east after the first gulf war, how we remove the despots and give them democracy, we failed to delivery that. worst, we pulled out, leaving those that had put faith in us in the hands of the very people we had promised to protect them from.

we have stood back as putin invaded Georgia, we barley slap his wrists when he invaded crimea. we give promises to Ukraine that if they give up their nukes we protected them, and we failing at that.

Nato great strength isn't it armed forces. it the Promise that if you attack one you attack all, and all will come to the defense to the one. but how many here really believe that, sure if he had attacked one of the core/founding members we all rush to it defense, but truthfully Romania,Bulgaria,Macedonia,Albania would we really rush to their defense, or would we get the same story we getting about Ukraine " We love to help but he got nukes we we don't want to start a nuke war, here have all this stuff and go fight him yourselfs"

I honestly think that Putin see the west as week, with no stomach to fight. and that if we don't stand up to him now with direct action, that he won't stop

A country which knows and understands the joys of living under the control of the USSR.

As an aside, if this war had taken place before 2016 would the brexit referendum even have taken place. Would there have been any demand for a break from the EU. I wonder (and may find out in a few minutes) what the Leave folk would have been thinking about membership of the EU if Ukraine had been invaded and this war had taken place in say 2013 or so. An interesting essay for an undergraduate in politics and international relations - I should set it for my daughter, although she has graduated.

Agree with a lot of that, but don't think it's entirely fair, it's virtually impossible to 'rebuild' a country without a majority of the native population putting their back into it too. Doesn't matter how big or bad a 'warlord' or gangster is, if he's binned by us and the people won't have him back, he's f^cked. Very often it's been the case that things were made good, but the locals just couldn't be arsed to put the effort into keeping them that way, and then complained to us...

If you don't think that's the case, look at Germany and South Korea, people who really got stuck in and made great successes out of devastation. I hope it won't come to it, but I've no doubt Ukrainians will prove every bit as successful if they have to rebuild - look at the difference in character between the brave fellows doing their best to get back to Ukraine from around the world, to fight for their country, and most of those young 'men' we see seeking asylum.

Has garry the answer to tackling someone with nuclear weapons?

It's history repeating itself. Grozny told us who he is. Then he false flagged a war into Georgia. Then he invaded Crimea and Donbass. Then he went into Syria to secure his med port/airbase. Now Ukraine.

Every time "The West" sh1!s it's pants.

There's only one answer to a bully, nuclear arms or not.

Well I would say there's some pretty nice evidence of a war crime there. I don't know how many times and different languages you have to shout you are a journalist before you've identified yourself as not being a civilian, who shooting at in an ambush would also be quite naughty anyway!

Yep, I know of incidents in which hundreds of rounds have hit a vehicle and everyone got away unscathed, and in which a single round entered a vehicle and killed...

This is one of the truly horrible things about war, its randomness, it is so often just down to chance, luck or what have you; a totally random thing, such as dropping your pen, can either save your life or kill you. Sometimes you're not better or worse than anyone around you, just more or less lucky. Madness... :(

No, based on 'hearsay' & from Ukrainian Police - wouldn't stand up, not independent and not verifiable.
