I would guess either Putins quick demise or the firing of nukes in desperation, I can't really see how if the Russians lose the ground they now hold plus Crimea how he could survive do you, he & those around him don't seem the type to go quietly.

We shall find out. You may be surprised. Then again you may not. Such is life. And death.

Don't think so bv, going to be a grind out with plenty of dead bodies followed by a ceasefire at the existing frontlines...unless western democracies grow a pair

Russian lives are expendable but losing the ground they now hold will not be acceptable & that is when we should really start to worry of what comes next.
I worry far more about Russia getting its act together and pushing forward than I do about what comes after Ukraine control the western end of the Crimean bridge. Russia have lost a great deal of ground they once occupied in this war, their only response, yet more state terrorism, throwing missiles at civilian homes and infrastructure. This war is not existential for Russia. Whilst there will be continued sabotage incursions into Russia territory, we may even see some Russian boarder towns captured by Ukraine for leverage, we will not see battalions of Ukrainians fighting all the way to Moscow. Putrid is smart enough to know the Russian state survives loosing the Ukraine war, he also knows despite his bluster the Russian state does not survive nuclear war.

Ukraine and the West somehow does needs to be doing more to influence Russian public opinion, somehow cut though to some of the Russian public with a dose of truth. Brian is a great example of how the Kremlins disinformation operation conducted over many years has been successful in turning some Westerners into what one might call Putin's useful idiots.

Can't see the Ukrainian leadership accepting a cease fire whilst the West has guaranteed to support them until they win, each further request of military hardware ratchet's up the stakes, Russia seems determined to turn a buffer strip in front of the Eastern region they want into a complete waste land using missiles & shells to destroy every single building in towns & villages.
I think they will try to push forward to control the whole of the Donbas region & stop there, can't see them getting or even wanting to go any further once Western tanks start arriving.

Fantastic to hear this, it has literally brought tears to my eyes having seen the piece a few days ago. I think she said she walked her dog at daybreak each day because that is when Russian shelling is usually quietest . Orla Guerin's visit to Bakhmut may well have saved her life and her mothers. (y) Sadly I suspect there are still many others like her trying to survive on the front line of Russian brutality. :(

Be far more useful if the BBC gave more accurate reporting, for goodness sake don't shoot the messenger.

100 missiles and Shahed drones from Russia against 14 airstrikes of Ukrainian army – General Staff

The Ukrainian military are shooting at invading soldiers. The Russian military are murdering civilians and children.
Accurate enough for you Brian?

I guess creating a wasteland must make the Russians feel more at home. 🤷‍♂️ Each missile and shell Russia wastes on demolishing empty buildings is one fewer it can spend on killing and degrading Ukrainian military units. (y) Russia may have more ammunition than Ukraine but one round striking a tank is militarily far better than 10 rounds spent pulverising mounds of brick and timber. Ukraine will not accept a cease fire if it appears Russia just wants to buy time to re-arm, re-equip and re-start. Equally if Ukraine did agree to a ceasefire Putin knows for as long as Russia still holds Ukrainian territory an undefeated Ukraine will at some point be coming knocking for it. Only solution for long term peace, Russia just got to go home. (y)
