Honestly it wasn't that bad of a job once you know what you have to do, I bet I can do it the next time within half a day. Doing everything through a mirror is really awkward but it only takes time. Especially getting the locking tab in place again is a royal pain.
I saw your photo earlier and asked the dealer, they never heard of anyone removing the chassisrail o_O.
I was removing the the whole valve block though and it’s marginally quicker than removing the whole transmission to gain access.

I stopped just in time to prevent a f##ked up gate. Of course it was wedged good and tight against the drill. So I had to back up to release it and had 6 meters worth of blocked spouts.

In a question completely unrelated to the fact that some metal plate was being cut up today, does anyone know where I might buy a new jcb pallet tine.....??
Ha, that's utterly stupid; changing the subject entirely... I once had to very quickly reinforce a supporting beam in a shed because 'someone' had been cutting on it because he couldn't be arsed to go down to the ground to do it...

You know how you can usually balance a paintbrush on a tin and it stays there, not falling down and putting gloss paint on your Mrs's favourite wooden floor...? :arghh:

(Anyone who knows a good way to remove bright white paint from between floorboards, leaving no evidence detectable by an unnaturally observant wife, p.m. me a.s.a.p.... :nailbiting:)

Put a screw into the handle of the paintbrush, just above the steel band that holds the bristles, leave a 6mm ish gap under the screw head. Then the paintbrush can be hung on the tin or kettle edge, bristles will drip into the paint, handle stays clean.

An “eyeliner” pen,
Pick one similar shade to the floor, cut the lead out of the pencil, it’s waxy and will run into the joints/crack and last a very long time .
) I do a lot of shopfitting and signage in pharmacies and cottoned after a bit of a mishap, have used it lots of times since.
