The Wild Card

The eu seem to be doing any thing they can to make life hard for us leaving, fact is, they don't want us as we don't tow their line but they can't handle the fact we want to leave. It's as though they think their union if a perfect realm of social delight and business Utopia. You can't make many different cultures into one state. It doesn't work.

Why can't instead of leaving the EU, revert back to the original agreement in 1972. A common trade agreement. I bet May hasn't even touched on that. I know they wouldn't want to do that as it would prove their whole eu plan is flawed.

I'm just curious, but how does this work. Ye have national elections anyway.
What would an election achieve? sacking slackers with more slackers knowing they don't need to know anything about what their job entails

There is a reason the Eu is better informed than most national governments on this, it's because they have to be!

Very incisive analysis I must say. Particularly since the UK side are doing a text book exit negotiation. You know, strong and stable cabinet and government, united government party, single minded focus and strategy, no personal agendas, country before party, national interest before and personal interest, yadda, yadda, yadda.

Yeah ....................... it's all down to the EU. They simple are not being sensible:scratchhead:

Please allow me to explain why your view, although fairly common, is misplaced.

Adam Smith explained, 200 years ago, that any free trade area would by necessity evolve into a federation of provinces and states as common rules and attitudes melded their constituent members. (Already I see EU citizens referring to themselves as e.g. 'Dutch Europeans', just as I regard myself as a 'Welsh EU farmer' - the future is plain).

As a result, there is no economic or political option to go back to 1973.

Neither is there any concept of a viable economic alternative - which explains the UK's present political paralysis.

Yes, I see that Tusk views the 'negotiations' as a battle and he fears 'defeat' if the 27 do not remain united. It is clear the EU do not see the 'negotiations' as negotiations if the outcome is victory or defeat.

As you say, it shows that the EU intends to make it difficult for us to leave and they are ably assisted by sore losers at home. So much for democracy in the UK.

If this was true why is the right wing parties on the rise across Europe?

The reason no one knows what they are doing is because no one has ventured into this. We're the fist country to leave. I dare say labour would cock this up as much as conservatives are. I'm no fan of May what so ever but now it's been voted out it needs to be out. Otherwise, what's the point in a democracy.

perhaps it is telling that he felt the need to implore the 27 to remain united.

when have they ever being united always 28 different views juncker et al hoped it would turn into 27 versus 1, it looks as though some cracks are appearing, why is he worried about defeat? We dont want to "beat" the eu we just want to leave and trade with them as friends, is he worried that if that happens others will leave too and the US of E will be dead. At least if he came out and said it it would be honest

Why?

Productivity is shite, they need to be making the most of what is already here, then wages will rise

He is now going to have to borrow billions. to try and fill the demand in housing from all these imported workers, so other than the wheel turning, we're no better off.

But it’s not working is it? And that’s because many Europeans don’t want to be federalised; certainly not the Welsh, nor the Catalonians. People prefer locally ( as practically possible), accountable, democracy.
