It can be hereditary...in the genes breeding... Remember my late gran telling a story of how she heard that her cousin was in the old Priory hospital in Carmarthen... Being in town she went to visit him.. only later did she find out why he was in hospital...taking lead shot out of his bum and legs.. someone had shot him while stealing... Her quote was," I would never have gone near the devil.if I had known" .this would have been in the 1940's. His descendants even today, the 3rd generation have "hairy hands" as we say in Welsh.
A lot to be said about Sharia law.
Probably no descendants either.

Years ago a tractor was nicked, if I remember rightly, from the New Holland stand at the Royal Show one evening. Of course nobody questioned someone, presumably in NH overalls getting in, starting the tractor and driving it off, presumably to a nearby waiting lorry.
As ever, if you are sufficiently brazen, people often won’t question …
Up here disused rail line tracks were taken in and sold for scrap off an old freight line, legit diggers, wagons and contractors doing it, all organised by one guy.
He was stealing it, forged paperwork everything. It went on for months, no one batted an eye untill a retired train driver was walking the line and thought this isnt right and reported it.
The one guy nearly got away with it.

That's the basis all authority investigative and enforcement figures operate on and most people fall for it

My little job at The Kenilworth Show is to organise a parade of modern machinery for a ring display and commentary.

A local farmer bought along his Bateman sprayer and some twunt pinched most of the nozzles off the boom.

As you say, only any use whatsoever to another farmer and incredibly disappointing that would happen at a local show.
When my dad retired all his machines went in a local collective sale,I bought his sprayer and between me collecting it only 2 miles down the road someone had nicked most of the nozzles.🤬🤬🤬

It’s nothing new. I remember my grandfather never leaving PTO shafts on implements outside that was 35 years ago in a hill village where they probably knew half the people and were related to the other half.

Lincolnshire show years ago was rife for petty thefts, still is ,,linch pins were the favourite easy targets ,then linkage pins went walkiers, then exhibitors started to lock the cabs and only open them to known customers .
Anything was fare game to the sticky fingers ,,small stall holders stopped coming as they were losing too much stock .
You open the doors on millions of ££ of equipment and every magpie will have their eyes on something

I was sitting in the area outside the hall and saw a lad carrying something like that.. he stopped where I was to try and make it easier to carry. I jokingly said have you nicked It. He said his dad wouldn’t pay postage so had to pick it up. Was trying to carry it it one of the free buckets, looked very heavy

Realistically, the police won't do anything of consequence to this person That being said, I am not sure I agree with trial by social media. If you're in favour of this are you agreeing with the actions of the volunteer members of the road traffic Gestapo filming footage and posting it on youtube and dobbing folk into the police. This isn't a police state nor should folk be turning into informants on their neighbours.
Thing is where do you draw the line ? If you saw your neighbour drive off in a car pee'd as a rat would you do nothing and if so how would you feel if he went on to kill someone?

Wouldn't even give them the option, just post the footage and shame
Local hardware place posted footage of a lad asking him to call in & have a chat with them or else it would be the police, footage was of him trying on a pair of boots, then another pair that fitted better, then he put his old ones back in the box & walked out wearing the new ones.

Local show a salesman saw a pair of legs sticking out from under a machine, he had a couple of spanners screwing some part off.
A mate bought a new Bredal spreader & it came via a show, was a brave bit missing from it.

Local farmer watched the electricity men taking the cables off a disused like outside his house, few months later the electricity men where out & said it was nothing to do with them, guys had stolen the cable but knew it was turned off & 1 of them just walked about on the ground with a clipboard.
