things that make you smile

Apart from my own village, Lavenham and Cavendish, I reckon Kersey has to be one of my favourites too. I always like smile when folks say "oh so it's not all flat in Suffolk then"

Is the altitude a problem??
Quite challenging. We spent 3 days in Cuzco and about acclimatising, when you walked up hill you certainly noticed it. On the trek to Macchu Pichu we peaked at 4200 m climbing steeply. You could only literally put one foot in front of the other and my heart was trying to get out of my chest. But our guide had walked in a man of 89 so it is doable and the trek was the best bit for me.
If you took the train it would be very little problem.

One of my village's TwoMills . Photo taken today by my friend Richard who farms there and who's family have milled for a century

Richard's Uncle the late Michael Bryant - a man who always had a twinkle in his eye and a little story to tell. He was a miller and farmer all his life although in the war he also rode his bike around Ixworth raising the alarm for the retained fire crew. He championed my planning for my barn when it started to meet some opposition

On tyne or Emlyn? ;)
Upon Tyne. There are an awful lot of blue lights though I've only seen the debris the next day. So far I can only praise the place and the people. Kind, gentle, totally unintelligible. I mean I think I know what they're saying then I realise I haven't a clue! I recognise it's English then I get lost. Greys Street in the centre is stunning architecturally and there's loads of places to eat well. (y)

Our neighbour's daughter finished a 3 year degree in Newcastle last summer. She had a fantastic time there. To celebrate, some of her Uni mates came down here and they all had a night clubbing in London. One of them lost her phone in the club after leaving it on the table when she went to the loo. They were all saying afterwards "but that wouldn't happen in Newcastle"! Speaks volumes about regional attitudes and selfishness.
