Weatherfor cast says tomorrow is gonna be wet which I why we left it till Monday.

Bit wet today too:coldfeet:(n)

Cut about 50 acres on Thursday, all baled and wrapped on Saturday, some years you may have to accept you wont get hay, good wrapped silage is better than mouldy hay despite the cost of wrapping which is your only saving making hay. Hay also needs a roof which wrapped bales don't.

@georgie forget the hay this year , one or two day good wilt tomorrow and Wednesday and wrap em up.

It is a gamble but I think it's going to be a gamble at anytime this summer.

I'm also reliant on neighbours/friends/family/contractors to get it done so picking a risky spot helps with manpower.

I'll leave it to the mower man to make the decision.

You'll need to get it by close of play Wednesday I reckon, if you mow today. End of the week doesn't look too promising now.

Thank you for all your help, it needs to be done but no point doing it if it's gonna be crap so I'll wait to hear from the mower.

Plenty of half decent hay has been made in September in the past, and will be again. Better to wait and get whats there in decent conditions than mow more in hope than expectation. Gone over grass in good conditions makes better hay than better grass in crap conditions. I mowed some first cut grass in September 2012 when it finally stopped raining that year, and it made OK stuff, which all got sold.
