That will have been John Wright when he was at Scarning.A bit more on this. Dad is still around at the age of nearly 95 and fully compus mentis. I see my parents most days. I mentioned this thread to him today and he remembered the day the Apollo was delivered from Kings Lynn docks. There was no ramp at Thriplow Farms so Oliver arrived with a Drott and dug a hole.
That Apollo was the only one ever sold in the UK but Dad did have a friend near Dereham in Norfolk who had a Taarup version.
No, it was the man who bought the farm from John. A hay merchant from darkest Essex called Charles (Eric) Farnham. That will have been John Wright when he was at Scarning.
Caithness grim ? no i dont think so , Essex now really is grim infact one of the most grimmest counties in the Country imo. all them people milling around thats what makes it so and that townie Essex drawl ...oh dear ...oh dear ...
Looks like mainly haulage and a bit of farming now, if you look at Companies House.Ok
It knocked a big hole in the piggy bank
You just need some more stones! You must know the saying locally - “growing crops on limestone”
Bought 33,000 acres at £ 20 an acre then were looking to sell 28,000 at £ 25. That's a small profit and they wanted to keep 5000 acres. The hotel was valued at £ 50,000.Ok

Yeh! That’ll do nicely!!
What about the cash they poured into it at 12%?Bought 33,000 acres at £ 20 an acre then were looking to sell 28,000 at £ 25. That's a small profit and they wanted to keep 5000 acres. The hotel was valued at £ 50,000.
I presume that was on the bit they kept. I doubt they were ever on to reclaim 33,000 acres. What about the cash they poured into it at 12%?
Caithness ain’t all that bad we can grow good crops have great people long beaches with hardly a soul on them. Mind you today isn’t great 40-50 mph winds horizontal rain about 30 mm in last 24 hours. But I wouldn’t swap it for Essex.Caithness grim ? no i dont think so , Essex now really is grim infact one of the most grimmest counties in the Country imo. all them people milling around thats what makes it so and that townie Essex drawl ...oh dear ...oh dear ...

And presumably RSPB "rescued" a chunk of Forsinard for us.
