whats the best course of action for sheep who have not been acclimatised to tick before?

got some coming and apparently no tick problems in the area they are from, we are full of it here.

Obviously ill crovect them but is there anything else I can do long term to make them resistant? or will it be a case of constant treatment for them.

I moved some to a new holding in May, knowing that there was a tick population there. So, I applied Crovect to all sheep on the day they were moved.

3 weeks later noticed in a bunch of yearlings that they weren't looking as bright as usual, ended up losing 5 out of 50. Pm ws done and ticks was the conclusion. My vet stated that "one bite is enough" and because they were completely naive to ticks it was going to have an affect no matter what I did.

By now they've recovered and I presume have developed a level of immunity to them. Lucky it happend in June and not pre tupping......
