I think i will
Keep my sheep under permanent dysectcover and it will reduce tics .
Not so sure it reduces them.my sheep on the hill are treated a fair bit still seems as many.was marking lambs the other day that had dysect at week old an it had a tick on it.which I was surprised to see.

I don’t know for certain, but it’s supposed to help. Not lost a lamb to fox since I started using it, but thanks for jinxing that.

It’s cheap, and easy to spray when I’m doing the rest - plus a nice visual cue that the lamb has been seen and done. If time is tight, I’ll do that and Spoton in the field and know they’re half way sorted. Then the Mrs can batch them for tagging and ringing afterwards.
We have a bottle of creosote with a cork stopper that we always used to dab on every lambs neck when ringing, to stop fox attack . My grandpa swore it worked , so like you we were always scared to stop using it!

I thought it bound to the wool surely a shedder like offshears wouldnt have enough fleece for it ? having said that ive used clik on the shedder ewes before in about eaerly mid june.

does the t piece have to be almost or dragged along the wool or just off the surface ?

Clik is apparently huge fudgin money, each year it gets huger and out of proportion :banghead:

I think you're supposed to keep it within a certain distance as you apply the pour on (same as all the companies say to do with all their pour ons)..
But it doesn't matter - aslong as it goes onto the fleece the job is a good one... If you can squeeze the gun firmly enough, it's got a decent range 😉🤣

We have never had a problem until this year don't know why, possibly mild winter god knows' but put everything threw the dipper and sorted the job right out.
Neighbour had ticks on hill ewes late last summer and got them dipped and back out to the hill. Within a fortnight they were as bad again. They're persistent little feckers

got 40ml to get on against blowfly can you just do a spray straight along their backs or that and a 2nd pass curved line around the dock like we do with click etc ?
using a new gun that will put on 40ml in one go and i would rather just do one solid spray up through their back
I cant remember how we used to put on vetrazin if its the same.

You'll not like putting 40ml on in 1 go - 20ml is bad enough (the T bar limits the spray of it, so there's a bit of resistance. Or at least there is through my 2 guns). It's almost easier on your hand doing 4x 10ml. But try it an see how you get on

Put 20ml down their back in a line... then just put 20ml at the tail head as per bottle instructions (I spray it on in a circular motion to make a bit spot), does the trick. You can do the curve at tail if you want

got a tepari power gun but not used it yet on pouron so not sure how more than one hit will work ,
only one way to find out i guess.:nailbiting:

If anyone uses Dysect on freshly clipped ewes be warned - first time we put it on them it took some skin off their backs (swales) - give them a week to get a bit of stubble before applying the horrible stuff!
It may be good in some folks eyes but it`s not used here - don`t like being near the stuff, or treated sheep so we manage with Clik, Crovect and Spot-on type products....

That is very strange as it gives you 7 weeks protection from infestation. Sounds more like incorrect dipping practice. If done correctly, eg enough time in the tank and correct top up intervals then there should not be a problem .

In all fairness,I was there helping and one thing's for sure the Dip was mixed stronger than the prescribed rate and they all had a proper soaking.

Do you know the top up intavals that was done as the chemical strips out quicker than the water depletes.

What size dip tank is it ?
Smack on with the spec on the tin other than probably an extra pump of dip to use it up because he'd got more than he needed. Only a 250 gallon tub and only 200 ewes in the bunch. Very fussy old boy and wouldn't skimp. Sadly gone with cancer recently

Well .. if you read the bottle you wouldn't have put it on fresh shorn ewes.

It clearly says ewes need minimum 1cm of wool for application

Aye, and if you knew the full story you`d know that when it was first introduced here by Fort Dodge there wasn`t that instruction on the bottle!!

They paid for my vet to inspect our draft ewes before we sold them to confirm the flakes of skin on the wool on their backs was nothing sinister - we had to put a note on the pens to that effect.
I know enough about Dysect to leave well alone!!

Reading between the lines at the time we weren`t the only ones that had this problem - anyway that`s why you`ve been able to read that instruction!! Good on you for taking the time to read them, not everyone reads the small print!;)
