tissue sample tags

been using them without problem for a few years, but the new lot have changed from the empty vile with lid, to a vile with fluid in, only problem is I cant get it to click seal. is there a trick to doing it? does not sealing make the sample worthless?

Yes, same problem here. Started using new viles at weekend. Terrible design, won't click in compared to older ones and will have to cello tape some of them up for posting. Sorry no help to problem...

that's exactly what i've done, used sellotape . allflex too, googled the problem but found nothing to help

Ah, I see. We use shearwell tags here, and you flip the lid on the little pot and the sample snaps in, no fluid in them. Tags have to be posted off by 10 days. Sorry cant be much help to the op, call them up and complain!

Agree they are a nightmare, well seen whoever designed them wasn’t in the middle of a shed with dirty wet hands. I have cursed several times this spring trying to close lid and whole thing slipping out of my hand

Are these the same as the Beef Efficiency Scheme? Using the pliers to seal the two bits together is clever but a faff.

Using nordic management tags here and no problems whatsoever, very simple to use

Do folk find the tags don’t last very long, bought six pedigree heifers a couple of years back and they all have lost the test tag. They are only three or four years old, the normal ones arnt brilliant but usually last eight to ten years
