Tm150 losing water

Hi guys, I have a 2002 tm150 that takes up to a gallon of water every day, we cant see any leaks anywhere, we have changed the thermostats, changed the rad cap also changed the cap on the expansion tank and it's made no difference, I've also got the head pressure tested and it's perfect, however theres cold water dropping out of the over flow pipes nearly constantly even though the air conditioning isn't switched on, what she has done a few times is blown all her water down the overflow pipes this could happen at anytime of the day no matter what it's doing, I have turned off the tap on the right hand side of the engine to stop the water going up to the heater and she hasn't emptied herself since then but as I said still takes up to a gallon everyday, could anyone shed any light on this issue because it's starting to drive me mad, a couple of mechanics have looked at it but cant seem to find the cause of the problem, thanks in advance for any comments

Hasn’t any of the mechanics put a coolant pressure tester on her to look for a leak? Top and bottom hose like to go rock hard on them and leak, water pump can leak, the two orings between water pump and head can leak, the orings on the pipes to the oil cooler go hard and brittle, there’s one behind the engine the one you have to remove to do the manifold studs on cylinder no6!!!!!

If you’re still really stuck fill her up with a strong antifreeze mix, the anti freeze will find leaks that water won’t and stain a bit around leaving a trail. Needless to say pressure wash her spotlessly clean first.

Could there be a small crack in the head that opens when engine warms up and closes when it cools
I remember back in 1978 we had similar problem with an A60 van but
that started loosing water when a garage changed the anti freeze and the mechanic thrashed it driving back
15 miles but the problem was never
cured
A long time after I read about someone with similar problem in car
mechanics,by the way the van had long gone and that was a crack in the
head that opened when warm

I don't know anything about TM's but could your heater matrix be leaking ?

On my JD the heater matrix and air-con cooler are in a sealed box with the fans under the seat.

When the temperature control valve started to leak the cab steamed up and coolant dripped out of the air con drain pipes.

I know you have turned off a tap but because the coolant system is pressurised it will run back through the return hose.

Theres 8800 hours on her I dont think the head has been done

A Contractor I help out from time to time had a TM155 and he was warned to do the head at 8000hrs as they are prone to dropping valves, well he ignored the advice and at 9200 it dropped a valve. With your current hours and the issue you are having I have the head reconditioned as well as the injectors.....................................................................

Thanks for the replies lads, theres some interesting suggestions I will try disconnecting the pipes going up to the heater matrix, after the 2nd time it lost all its water I didn't bother putting anymore anti freeze into it but I'm also going to put it back in to see if any stains show up anywhere around the engine, the tractor doesn't be working everyday but after I try these few things and do a couple of days work with ill let you know how I get on, thanks again

Well lads turned out there was a leak in the heater matrix so as suggested above we looped the pipes and it solved the problem it's only done a couple of days work since but all seems fine, thanks to everyone who commented it's much appreciated
