To dress or not to dress

What are people's thoughts on single purpose dressing farm saved spring oats seed? Is it worth it or not? Thanks

Not worth unless your seed has a problem. I drilled the last 5ac of a field with organic oat seed and there was no difference in the crop. Wont bother with SPD now.

No idea but I haven’t treated spring barley seed for the last 3years and have no intention of starting now.

Yes, no point drilling untested seed.

Nothing bad about that, but it's a gamble. If nothing else I'd get the germination & TGW measured. My beans came out at 83% germ so I've altered the seed rate accordingly. No ascohchyta or stem nematode found in the sample, so no dressing applied. I've just had the invoice from NIAB for £90 which on 35 tonnes of FSS will be considerably cheaper than any seed treatment.

And if you had time/could be bothered you could do the germination test/1000 grain test yourself. Not hardly going to take an hour is it?
