What are people's thoughts on single purpose dressing farm saved spring oats seed? Is it worth it or not? Thanks
Get it tested. It’s cheaper than the dressing if there’s no disease
Yes, no point drilling untested seed.

And if you had time/could be bothered you could do the germination test/1000 grain test yourself. Not hardly going to take an hour is it?Nothing bad about that, but it's a gamble. If nothing else I'd get the germination & TGW measured. My beans came out at 83% germ so I've altered the seed rate accordingly. No ascohchyta or stem nematode found in the sample, so no dressing applied. I've just had the invoice from NIAB for £90 which on 35 tonnes of FSS will be considerably cheaper than any seed treatment.
Obviously.........Well, the germination test takes a bit longer
My time is very valuable
Obviously.........
(You do know that you don't have to watch them grow in the airing cupboard on the wet paper towel don't you.....)
whose wifey ?Damn. Luckily there's wifey in there
