To Fert or Not to Fert?

Im 2 weeks off lambing,and my contractor is ready to get Fert on could do with him doing all the fields in one hit but not sure if its a good idea while the Ewes are on it? Should i leave the field there on and get him back later,Really dont want any make more lambing problems

Whatever happened to T-sum 200. Always looked for the little squares in FW to change colour. Invariably it was always cold and wet by the time we were given the go ahead. Think one of the fert manufacturers sponsored it.
 
I won't bother calling the contractor then, no yellow colour brightening the place up here yet.

As mentioned on another thread, I took soil temp measurements on Monday 12th March, which averaged 4.8 degrees. Ground still hard from weekend frost this Monday but took a couple on Tuesday which barely averaged 4.5 :(.

I blame @Bones for my current anguish, as he asked to be kept informed on the state of the Berwickshire tundra!

They realized it was rubbish.
Working on soil temperature is much more sensible

I reckon it's safe to put ferts on once the daffs have opened. Been doing this for years. May or may not be a coincidence but T200 was usually about the same time. Ours opened about a week ago, a good 3/4 wks later than most years.
