Scenery on travel to farm. Finally stopped raining and planting getting into full swing. Suddenly turning very green. Apple blossoms popped open in the afternoon.

I catch all the runoff from mine and save it up. Plan on filtering any particles out and putting it on with the seaweed concoction and using it as a spring booster around the place. Older fields will get it diluted with seawater, newer pasture rainwater is the current plan.
A visiting consultant called my composting stuff "a waste product":eek: I asked him to leave before I regained composure

What is your seaweed concoction consist of, do you put seaweed into water and let it rot and them dilute it with more water and spread it on the land. Years ago they would have gathered washed up seaweed and spread it directly on to the land, If I could get a handy way of loading it I would collect it

That's largely how I go about it.
I gather up the stuff that washes up in big storms and added a lot to my compost heap- about 5 trailer loads have come home now.
The red stuff is no good, it's slighly toxic to plants especially germinating plants (the two Simon's theory thread is along the same lines, phytotoxins??) or so I've heard.
The green stuff gets chucked onto the top of the heap and covered up next time I have the tractor going
The brown stuff I brewed up for a few months in a plastic tank, with air bubbling up and a daily stir. Then siphoned off the top and stored in a drum! The sludge out of the tank went in the garden compost with all the scraps and paua guts :hungry::)
I was planning on putting it out in the autumn but the weather is mental. Always too much of it!!! so I'll have a play in springtime.
Have a few hundred litres of compost juice and 200 litres of the seaweed stuff.
I'm planning to just grab an IBC of seawater for the older pastures as a mixer, have about 14 ha that wants some salt.

Well after a week of feeling sh*t due to a bad case of strep throat been taking it a little easier. Back up to speed now though so here's a bit of what's been happening.

Spent a couple of days sorting this mess out!

Managed to do a deal on a new spreader after last weeks demo.

Spent a couple of days on the sprayer, got a 2650 in bits with a lift fault ( I'll get pics later )plus a load of other bits and pieces which I can't be bothered listening!

And today it's #airportfriday and it's axels of one of the fire engines due to cracking at the end so they're of to be repaired. View attachment 520712View attachment 520714View attachment 520718
2 things spring to mind...
Who's your forklift driver?
What happens if there's a fire?

Good work.
