Is there any steering on the implement @Muddyroads ? Or do you just have to have the check chains v tight and the driver keeps their eye on things?

Also, if you don't mind my asking, how do you harvest the leeks? And where do you sell them - do they go into a co-operative that supplies box schemes or something? Sorry for being nosy!

Wrapping on a nice warm day. It got up to 38 degrees later. Cooling my hat over the AC outlet made getting out to change rolls not too bad but it was hot enough for the film to break 15 times which is 14 more times than it did last week for the same number of bales.

Then tedding, a bit annoyed to see a severe weather warning for Essex for Friday now, where did that come from?

No steering on it, so it’s a 1 man operation. At the moment I’m keeping the check chains loose and letting the wheels on the hoe follow the rows. (Worked well till 1 of the wheels fell off!)
We‘ve joined a local growers cooperative which in turn supplies Riverford. Hopefully this takes an element of risk out of what is a completely new enterprise for us. All veg will be hand harvested, so it will be pretty labour intensive later in the year. Never a problem to have questions asked, it’s knowing the answers that can be the tricky part!
