A friend ran over our 17 yr old red and white collie. He was helping cart bales and didn’t see the old dog. Felt bad for both of them.Sadly, dog burial detail today , he was ancient and had been getting increasingly dotty and deaf, I had forecast that someone would run him over soon. That someone was me and the vet came to put him to sleep this afternoon.
In all his life of 13 plus years he had only had a lead on when he went to the vet for the annual vaccination and had run free for all the rest of the time.
I am sad writing this but the vet says that loads of farm dogs finish up being run over by their owners, is this true?

My Mrs managed to run over an old Jack Russel we had twice. She was in the car and as the children shouted , she slammed it into reverse thinking he was in front. Vet gave him Metacam and after a few days rest, he was back to his old growling self.
