@Wombat what make is your shear and what size machine is it on.
I would love one but might try to hire one first.
My husband's cousin sells the tmk if you need his number let me know.Mines a bucket warehouse 060 on a Cat 307. Will cut more in the right jaw than the other as the way they close, I have been very happy with it and seriously wouldn’t be without it. Will cut about 5” on the left jaw but with a few chews you can get through bigger. It’s good for doing hedges as you can grab a big chunk of blackthorn as you go up.
I like the look of the Tmk one and I think there is an Irish one very similar. I would go for the claw style or the tmk one for hedging as they can deal with decent size limbs and pick stuff out of streams etc and grab it as they cut.

I think the landlord has paid him a lot of money for his old type lease , or that is the story from the pub.I'm sure this question is in the wrong thread - but I wanted to follow up on the Knowes farm sale story.
Saw the Border Livestock Exchange advert inside the front cover of The Scottish Farmer and notice that Stenton is selling up too - on 23rd October. What is the story there?

Do you start the brocoli of yourself from seed or buy it in ready grown in modular traysPlanting Broccoli and putting Urea on BeansView attachment 911434View attachment 911435
Do you grow the broccoli in some kind of beds, or is it an optical illusion?Planting Broccoli and putting Urea on BeansView attachment 911434View attachment 911435
What's life like out there?I added some pictures the plants are raised in 345 trays for me off farm. We harden them off for a few days load them into stillages then onto flat trailers. A tenderstem seed is about 3p plus a penny to raise and we plant up to 400,000 in peak season so you have to be careful. An aqueel roller on the bedformer leaves divots to stop irrigation water running off. On a good day we can plant 220,000 in eight and a half hours.
How come you run so many different makes of tractor. Would it not be easier to stock common parts for just one make and easier for drivers to get on and drive similar tractorsPlanting Broccoli and putting Urea on BeansView attachment 911434View attachment 911435View attachment 911440View attachment 911441
Life here is difficult at present but it probably is everywhere. I am pleased someone likes the photos as I am never really sure whether people are interested or would rather never see another giraffe or broccoli plant. I am happy to answer any questions about what we do or anything else about here. What's life like out there?
Thanks for posting pictures and information on what your doing. I find them really interesting.
