Probably a stupid question, but how do you stop your water pipes freezing in those conditions?

They freeze, i heat and repeat. Put heatingcable on them, but always some trouble

A horrible day weather-wise, plenty of feeding, bedding up and a bit of mucking out. Sometimes being an office worker with weekends off and working indoors seems like a good idea.

We don’t clean out much in the winter. Everything is frozen solid, the manure freezes into rugby ball sized lumps that we throw straw or leaves ( collected curbside in October)on. The animals stay clean and dry but I worry about their comfort. You can’t have it all.

Lorry driver told me HSE says hook on the outside so that you keep hold of the hook not throw it over the load and give someone concussion

Yeah, they are easier to throw the other way......but the brother was loading a small lorry with bales & gave the man a hand to strap it down, he fired one over with the hook on the inside & heard a yell, ran round & had caught the man just below the eye, enough to draw blood.
He was ok but not a nice thing to happen.

I don`t know so don`t laugh but,,,always wondered ,do you drive forwards or backwards when using a bucket brush?

If there is big lumps I drive forwards then drive backwords to make a clean job
