Is that plenum temp ?Usually dry wheat at about 80*c, takes a bit less than an hour to take out 2%
When I am drying beans, I set the flame temperature lower than the burner cut off setting, so it never switches off. Just take a sample every half hour and manually switch off at 16.5%, then let cool. Note the burn time for the next batch. Usually use a flame temperature of 120-130*F, ie very cool, trying not to cook them.View attachment 994155
Thankfully an uneventful day with the dryer, new drive belt on and buffed up the smoky beans.
1 load gone and a bit more work on the kennels
Yes 190*F in old moneyIs that plenum temp ?
I may have had them a tad hot, but also think I may have an issue with the plenum stat, gets to temp then I have to manually reset it on the top lever. Ended up with beans, plenum 220f and grain temp of 110f 2 hours cook, 2 hours cool to 70fWhen I am drying beans, I set the flame temperature lower than the burner cut off setting, so it never switches off. I’m cooling in the dryerYes 190*F in old money
opico book recommends 170*F but we haven’t had a problem with it a bit higher
grain temp is usually around 106 - 108*F at the end of the drying cycle. Then we cool it to 90*F before unloading, final cooling is done using pedestals in the heap.
80 - 100 kg per ha But as it grows you will have to start to thin it out a little bit.

Good on him ...and you !He's 13. I'm right behind him encouraging him to get involved with everything we do, especially the hand muck fork work so that he sees both the good side and the warts and all of farming.
Went to Diggerland this week and said to my 2 year old that I'll buy her a mini-digger if she can fill the hole with the 5 tonner.Good on him ...and you !
When my lad was younger we were cleaning out a shed and I said to him " get the muck fork and clean the corners out " ...his reply .. " if I do that what are going to be doing " ...... watching you I said when I'm satisfied you can handle the muck fork properly then I will teach you how to use the loader ! ...about 2 mins later he broke the fork handle ! He said " I think it's going to be a while before I can use the tractor "! ......I think he was about 10
