Back on this job, after a week away,

Used the carrier to cut the top off the pudding to start the drying process.

Cut out the damaged shaft and welded in replacement.

Oilseed rape establishing now.

Blockage in metering on drill, was rectified by broadcasting and roll. Still not enough plants, so broadcast some more seed in with a whiff of nitrogen today. Hopefully the forecast rain will finish the job.

Not bad for tech screws and a chainsaw !

A flapdisc on a 4 inch grinder works wonders on the corners after a chainsaw for stopping splinters. Or so I'm told

Decided we need to try and dry out some crumb on the top as I am not sure the wheat stubbles would dd after all the rain. This was a bit of failed osr ground where I set dad off with these, sun came out for about half an hour at 6 ish as well

Cleared a field of square bales made more round bales and finishing off the day drilling rape with a cracking veiw into Northumberland and the cheviots.

That’s the wheat finished today . Two days work left in beans and that’s us done .
last year we finished cutting wheat on the 8th of August kicked our heels for a few weeks and finished bean today so time wise we’re not much different. Pleased this wheat harvest is done we’ve had some pretty challenging ( flat ) conditions although we haven’t cut hardly any wheat over 15% .

Started topping 70 plus acres of ab15 today.getting about 2/3 ft tall.will do it again end October and then ready for winter.the hares and smaller deer have a job to get through it but hopefully not run over any.partridges are a bloody nuisance running along side what’s been cut then flying into the uncut stuff.

When I took my first Simmies a couple of months ago I topped at £465. Today I had a good bull out of a Monty at £310
