Not that I’m aware, 3 tractors 2 self propelled horsch sprayers, self propelled harvester, over £2m spent in the pack house and took on another farm this year means it’s fairly low down the list at the moment

I'm soloing for third wheat after grass and the soil is in great condition. Grass does wonders.

When all's not well in the calving pen

Call it a sixth sense, but I knew Glenda was up to something this morning. Every time I looked at her she had a pained expression.
By dinner time there was a string of rubbery goo so I felt inside. Nothing obviously going on, and very dry.
By milking tonight she was a bit wobbly, so I fired two calcium boluses into her and felt inside half an hour later.
Bugger. Suspect twisted uterus, and she wouldn't stand up to let everything fall back so I could tell which way it was twisted. Phone call to vet.
Anyway, she jumped up ten minutes later, so felt in again and it was off to the left. So she needed to sit on her left side so we could have a do at rolling her. (You roll the same way as the twist)
Anyway, she was a bit pee'd off but we dropped her and rolled her.
Yay! Two feet and a head in the distance.
Vet arrived and checked her over. Thought calf was moving along nicely so left us to it
Gave her a pull when the nose was just peeking. The cow was knackered and the calf needed to be out.
A beautiful heifer

Slurry went well until it didn't.

The first time in 20 years we had to use footbath for the sheep, some serious issues with scald. We figure it comes from neighbor who had issues keeping his sheep in, i noticed some of his grazing on their knees later on, after which our flock on the neighboring field had already been moved and grouped with others.

Also bought my dad a new mower, his is the one on the left he bought it new but after 23 years the deck was completely rotten, found the one on the right for sale, insanely tidy for its age, according to the sellers wife he took better care of the mower than he took care of his wife. Hopefully last another 20 years.

Dropping the springs of the drill to scatter the seed on the surface seemed Like a fantastic idea. Until I lost most of them whilst drilling .

laser receiver, i have it set to the bottom of the trench so just use it to set the bucket height before i take another cut. Not perfect but a lot better than having someone walk up the trench with a staff. We don't have much fall
