Today at work

Last night at work: we are helping out a couple of neighbours with grazing, I found 600 little weedy lambs in the setaside block, so mustered them up once the day's heat had gone.
Nice place to be, as the big sun goes down and the big moon came upView attachment 1166258View attachment 1166259
Great country for outwintering cattle, bit of everything - but didn't really need lambs on it.

No rain for the year yet, but I can smell it..View attachment 1166260View attachment 1166261
For a cattle farm, seem to have a lot of sheep dicking around, the one in the last photo is our mob-grazing assistant and very welcome
Where's that, Maniatoto?

Aye but it's caused them all sorts of problems. They had about 70 of various sorts going today and tomorrow but now got to keep them all..... and it's their first TB reactor for 14 yrs !
Yea I understand that and it's bad for them but if them 70 had got moved to 4 different farm that's quadrupled the problem they're having

Sunny morning for a change ! I walked up the back of the farm with the dogs first thing , intended to see if my wall bodge was still standing, greeted by 6 of neighbours sheep at the sight of which two part trained dogs took off
The two good dogs looked at me almost knowing what was to come …, me In full basil fawlty screaming at the dogs to stop , whilst the sheep decide not to exit the usual route but to go down towards my in lamb ewes
Que 1/2 hr of uncontrolled mayhem , young dog having rounded all my ewes up ( secretly impressed but I won’t tell her) I trudged home
Dogs duly kennelled and me having a brew and a chill pill . My wall was still up !
Baa stard sheep
Bloody neighbours
Plan b comes tomorrow!
