Very close to me. I'm in St Finians Bay (you might have visited the chocolate factory) nice to see our little place on the forum

Yeah I visited the chocolate factory last year,. That road from Portmagee over the mountain isnt for the faint hearted!
Beautiful area down there, on the map now since the Star Wars filming.
Been visiting Valentia for nearly 20 years now, it's amazing to see how tourism has grown in that time.

Ya it's lovely alright but can be fairly dreary during the winter months. There was a few mudslides last winter on that mountain and a few winters back we got some heavy snow(that was fun). I live on the family farm in the glen(finians bay) but I worked on the farm in valentia that has the ice cream parlour. Tourism is the big industry alright farming would be next and then a few local factories but population has gone down considerably in the last 8/9 years. 20 years wow that's amazing the world's really a small place have you relatives in the area or just countryside that keeps bringing you back?? Good to hear from you

I was in college with a couple of lads from Caherciveen and Valentia , I got to know the area from visiting them. We had a few good nights in the Royal...:)
But yeah it's the scenery we like but even more it's the relaxed atmosphere and slower pace of life. Last few years we try and get to Valentia twice a year, my wife loves the place.
