? you have transmission oil running out of the bell housing you mean?

There is a oil seal in the transmission pump that should seal on the neck of the converter. oil flows in to the converter but should not leak out. oil in bell housing will be the seal gone, pump mounting bolts leaking or the pump seal to transmission or the converter split/cracked.

Or engine crank seal?

No not leaking into the bell housing. I have had the engine out to rebild it. When i pulled it out a lot of atf oil came out, there were no signs of it leaking before that. And havent done an engine with a torque convertor before so i didnt know. Before i put the engine back in i just wanted to make sure

This is expected. Ideally you should undo the converter from the flywheel before pulling engine off via a access panel if there is one which often there I not! this keeps the oil in the converter but also makes it easier to refit with out damaging the oil seal in pump.

Sometimes there is no other way and converter has to be bolted to flywheel then refit engine, in such cases its advisable to make 2 or 3 long dowels to screw in the engine bell housing to use as a guide to keep things steady when you line them back up because you cant see what your doing and just going on looks and feel and you wont really know if it went well and the seal is undamaged till you fire it all up and no oil leaks out of bell housing.

There is no access panel. Thank you for the advise

some times you access through the starter motor hole, but like I said sometimes there is no access. old telerams with Chrysler 3 speed box you pull trans away just enough to get in with spanner and undo converter mounting bolts from memory but been a very long time since I done one of them.
